We all remember them - that wave of books about Pac-Man that were published in the early eighties. Many of us
carelessly discarded our own copies long ago, and now long to read them again. I frequently get e-mail from Pac-Fans
inquiring
about places where they can buy these books. Unfortunately, almost all of them are long since out if print,
but, I was surprised to find out that Amazon.Com, the Internet's leading bookseller, can apparently get
many of these titles used, if given some time to do so. Thanks to them, and my friends at Xensei who operate
the Xensei Virtual Book Store, I'm pleased to announce that you can now purchase (or at
least try to purchase, there's no guarantee of course that Amazon.Com will be able to find them) your favorite Pac-Man
books
directly from this web site! Just click on any of the "Buy it" buttons next to the book descriptions below, to jump
directly to
that book in the Amazon.Com catalog, where you can get more information about availability, or make a purchase.

Mastering PAC-MAN
by Ken Uston
Published by Signet/New American Library, January, 1982
I think this book was just about everyone's personal favorite, including my own. It was the regular sized
paperback,
with the black cover, including a pictures of Pac-Man eating a few dots, you remember it. :-) Lots of patterns and
strategy, game history, a description of the "slow" vs. the "fast" game (actually just an operator configuration
setting for the arcade game), and it even touches on the Coleco table-top game, and some of the spin-offs and variants,
such as Puck-One and Mazeman. Highly recommended. There are two ISBN numbers for this book, which is why there are two
"Buy it" buttons to the right. I'm pretty sure that there was a "second edition" to this book, which probably explains
this, but Amazon.Com's database doesn't describe either of these ISBN's as a second edition, so you're on your own,
I've simply listed both. :-)

Scoring Big at Pac Man
by Craig Kubey
Published by Warner Books, March 1982
This book is a great surprise - it's one of those tiny, almost "supermarket checkout" size books, and very thin, so
you expect it to be a less than useful read. In truth however, it contains some of the best strategies, including
some of the
best Pac-Man patterns available. It also covers the history of the "GET brothers", the famous team from Davis,
California; George Huang, Ed Bazo, and Tom Fertado, who created these world famous patterns, such as "Bazo's Breaker",
and "The Donut Dazzler". It even contains a Pac-Man quiz at the end. Highly recommended.

Pac-Mania
by Haller Schwarz
Published by Outlet, May 1982
I almost have to think it's a typo, but according to their catalog at the time I put this page together, this one is
still available new! This is another I have in my collection, and it's great. It's a large (magazine size), spiral
bound book, printed in full color on glossy paper. It includes all kinds of great info about Pac-Man, and the
sub-culture that grew up around it. Lots of great pictures of Pac-Man merchandise and promotional stuff,
cartoons, puzzles, even a (small) picture of the Ms. Pac-Man assembly line at Balley/Midway in operation, when
they were cranking out 1,000 units a day! |

I haven't seen this one personally, but if it's anything like the original (described above), it's a winner!
